This was terribly sad, but incredibly beautiful. I don't think you need to be worried.

I think it was, actually, a far more true-to-life situation than us happy slashers like to think about (awww) and you captured Gene's conflicted anger very well. That he finally got to the point of seriously hurting Sam, and Sam finally got to the point of transferring out, were spot on. Painful, but spot on.

And the last line was a heartbreaker -- Gene's regrets laid raw and open.

I too hope Sam is out there...and I hope Gene finds him, and himself, one day.

Thanks :) I'm usually in the happy slasher camp myself (true-to-life, pfft!), but the damned angst monkeys are relentless when they want to be.

And Sam is still out there (why does that remind me of The X-Files?) *hides canon from the A2A writers. As well as Gene/Alex anvils*

Oh my.
I did actually like this - not what happenned of course, that was woe and angst, but I liked the way it was written and how it tied up with A2A, and oh Poor Gene, so deep in denial, and obviously poor Sam, but Oh.
