Yes, John Paul II has been an incredibly cool Pope, but he is only human. He is suffering and to ask him to prolong that suffering is to ask much of a man who has already given much. I am saddened that your son will not know JPII, and hope that the next Pope will be able to live up to the high standard that John Paull II set.
So I will pray with you, that G-d's Will be done, but also that JPII's suffering will not continue longer than is necessary.

I've heard and seen a lot of Jewish sentiment that matches yours - that somehow this Pope was different. I've also, for that matter, seen some of it from Muslims, too. JPII was a good man, you're right

I was excited to read this. Too often I've tried explaining Catholicism to people who don't understand that these positions are compassionate and make sense from within a Catholic framework. I also value consistency, compassion, and sense, and look for those things within the ideological arguments made by others
