Oddly enough, late last night I was listening to a very old cassette of a dj gal I used to have a crush on, and at one point she mentions it's August 9th and passes along those same two historical items (along with Jesse Owens winning his 4th gold medal at the 1936 Olympics and the body of Pope John Paul George Ringo I being carried out of his home at the Vatican for burial rites).

And they didn't even have Wikipedia back then. Go figure.
