A mom update: She stopped chemo about a month and a half ago, did radiation for four weeks and she's still doing really well. Her hair has started to grow back (yay!) and it's coming back thinner and greyer than before, her appetite or mood hasn't changed a whole lot, so that's always good.
Now a me update: Let's start at the beginning... I went to my GYN towards the end of January, when I looked at her a certain way, she could tell there was something up with my neck, so she suggested for me to get an ultrasound. About two weeks later I do just that. After the ultrasound is complete, it got sent off to an endocrinologist. I had to wait until today (a day short of two months!) to have it read. A normal throat is supposed to be 4.8 x 1.8 x 1.6 cm (2.2 cm = 1 inch). The right side of my throat is 6.2 x 3.1 x 3.7 cm and one section of my left side is 4.8 x 1.5 x 2.1 cm. Basically, the right side of my throat looks like I swallowed a frog. So the doctor suggested I get a "needle aspiration biopsy," which I got done in like 30 minutes. Nine stab wounds and a sore throat later... I find out what the deal is with the biopsy next Wednesday but no later than two weeks. Not only do I look like I swallowed a frog, I sound like I ate one, too.
And my poor dad, he's all like, "Not you too?" Poor old man. :-/ In our family, we've learned the easiest way to deal with things is to always expect the worse and hope for the best. So, here's for hoping.
All that and the whole government being stupid over marriage equality, so much fun this politics game is.
