“Snow?” he asked, cigarette held between two thick fingers as he leaned up from his place against the wall.
With a sigh, the deputy mayor turned to look at him. She had a thick pile of folders under her arm, an expression of pure exasperation on her face. It looked like her day hadn’t been going very well.
“What is it, Bigby?” she asked hurriedly, looking down the hallway. “If you can’t tell, I’m in no position to stop for a chat.”
He took another long, shaking drag of his cigarette.
She wrinkled her nose cutely.
“Sorry,” he said with a smirk, waving his hand a little in apology. He took another drag.
“Hmm, obviously,” she said, her tone laced with sarcasm.
They stood there for another moment in silence. Snow sighed. “Was there anything you actually needed?”
Bigby nodded and started walking. “Looks like I caught you at a bad time. Meet me later tonight, my office?”
“Yes, that’s fine,” she said, nodding, obviously relieved to be getting away. “I’ll see you then.”
He took a deep breath, drawing it in slowly as she passed him. “I’m just so looking forward to it.”
Snow glared over her shoulder. “You know, you’re not exactly my favorite person, either.”
“Oh, I know,” he said. Quietly, he sighed. “I know.”
