Things happened to James/he did in 2008
1. Did tech for a live comic book show.
1A. At one of the performances, did sound for MC Chris.
2. Had eggnog for the first time.
3. Had my van stolen and went through a giant ordeal.
4. Wrote a short film script with the vocalist/keyboardist of one of my favorite bands.
4A. Shot a short film that was shaping up to be pretty damn good.
4B. Lost it due to technical shit.
5. Worked on tons of student short films.
6. Worked 2 months on an independent feature as a gaffer, grip, boom op., and whatever else needed to be done. Also had a lot of fun, got really pissed, and made some new friends.
7. Saw my friend go to engineering school and heard the album he made, which is incredible.
8. Started a podcast with Dash.
8A. Started a webcomic based (sorta) on the podcast.
9. Finished/dropped/graduated from film school.
9A. Realized I might not ever go to school again.
10. Took a train to Pittsburgh to see a very good friend.
11. Had a friend die.
11A. Went to a cometary to visit a friend's grave for the first time.
12. Strengthen old friendships and made new ones.
13. Had a friend go on tour with a slightly famous black metal band.
14. Had my nephew fall asleep on me.
15. Almost did a TV makeover show, but backed out of it at the last second.
16. Went veg.
17. Picked two books randomly, read them, and loved them. (Ship of Fools, Bloods)
18. Went to MoMA for the first time and saw a Dali exhibit.
19. Made a pretty good test-commercial for Mountain Dew.
20. Had a case of PVCs which were probably caused by sleep apnea.
21. Saw a black president get elected.
22. Got a ride down to Virginia with one of my favorite bands (second time).
23. Joined a production company.
23A. Did a 24-hour film race with said company.
23B. Did another film race, an entry into a commercial contest and will hopefully be working with them more and more.
23. Got into hardcore that wasn't made in the 70s or 80s.
24. Voted for a congressman whose platform was "Breakfast-All-Day".
25. Stayed single an entire year.
26. Had one of the most harrowing experiences of my life: windshield wipers not working during a huge downpour.
27. Saw tons of great movies, a lot by my favorite directors: Fincher, Van Sant, Nolan, Coens, Soderbergh, Aronofsky, Miike, Anderson.
27A. Went to an after-party where Soderbergh was.
28. Saw Eddie Izzard live (twice[bitches])
29. Saw a band (Rip it Up) do an all Minor Threat cover set.
30. Turned 22.
31. SAW FUCKING NEUROSIS.
32. SAW FUCKING NICK CAVE.
33. SAW FUCKING TAY ZONDAY.
34. SAW FUCKING AT THE GATES.
34. Had Steve Moore (Zombi) ask ME to send him pictures I took.
35. Called in and was on a live radio show.
36. Saw my name in the credits of a feature film at a NYC movie theater.
37. Got an IMDB page.
38. Saw a bunch of awful movies with Dash and Doug, best of which was I Know Who Killed Me.
39. Had my favorite actor die (Paul Newman).
40. Went to a restaurant where you either have to have a passkey to get in or know someone who does.
41. Was a model for a photo shoot.
42. Got offered my first paid job as a cameraman.
43. Did gang vocals for a metal album.
44. Had my dad admit he was an alcoholic.
45. Did not drink a single drop of alcohol.
46. Didn't get a hair cut.
47. Saw some great plays.
48. Met David Malki, creator of the Wondermark webcomic.
49. Had a friend live with me.
50. Still thought that, even when life sucks, it's amazing.
