Dunwhich Project

I took photos of various decaying houses today, inspired by HP Lovecraft's tales of decaying New England towns. Here are the photos and some fictional randomness to go along with them.

Story: The photos were taken by a young photographer documenting rural new England. The photos give a picture of a small town that's not... quite healthy. The photographer has been in Arckham mental asylum ever since dissappearing late that summer of the photos, and reappearing some weeks later raving about a black goat that followed him, and "dark things" in the woods.

Photos of Dunich by one Jacob Lowell, summer 1966:

The Whately house, photo found with others in church attic by an unknown benefactor.

An out building of the Whately house.

An out building on the old Whately property some miles away.

Sign posted on the origional Whately house, last inhabited by Wilbur, Lavinia, and Noah Whately during the early part of the 20th century.

Dunwich fabric mill, closed 1945, due to recurring problem with accidents.

Unidentified building, Dunwich

Photos by yours truely investigating the incident, present day:

Dunwich house, taken from a moving vehicle.

The photographer's summer retreat, as you can see it has fallen into disrepair.

The church where the photos were discovered

The local cemetery, showing the graves of Wilbur, Lavinia, and Noah Whately.

The Miskatonic university cemetery, graves of Warren Rice, and Henry Armitage. Figures repeatedly and puzzlingly mentiond in Mr. Lowell's diaries.

The Bishop house, currently owned by Sarah Bishop a ninety eight year old blind woman and the last surviving member of her branch of the family. She shook her head when I questioned her on the photographer.

Shots of Noah Whately's study on the old Whately property. I ate my lunch here, the place seemed curiously quiet, and I was unmolested by insects.

The Sawyer house, when asked for an interview Nathaniel Sawyer declined, closing the door hastilly in my face.

Miskatonic University, main library (another location mentiond in Mr. Lowell's diaries with much repition)
