For me it has helped to buy food in bulk.

I dunno, most of my cost cutting has consisted of "buy fewer books" and "live in graduate housing". Sorry. :-/

i've unplugged every appliance in the universe except for when i'm actively using it. also insulated things like windows and beds instead of whole house... driving is at a minimum, laundry sooo doesn't need to be done as often as you'd like to think (and the detergent can be a quarter-sized glob and just as effective). hm, yeah, not too much to add, really, but i live the ultimate life of slackings - my sad splurge is haircuts.
