I bought an interesting book the other day, "What we knew: Terror, mass murder, and everyday life in Nazi Germany: An oral history." I haven't gotten that far into it, but so far from the accounts of the Jews interviewed I was struck by their hate for Germany and Germans. Not that I condemn it, for the most part, just that in the previous accounts I'd read that aspect of the Holocaust was played down, but the first guy interviewed says, to paraphrase, that the whole of Germany should have been turned into a park and the German people used as fertilizer. I wonder what tune the German gentiles interviewed later on the book will sing...
