Having made a silent promise to myself to write more often, I'm going to try to post every day now, to the possible annoyance and/or dread of those who have lj-friended me, but I guess we'll just see how that all shakes out.

To pick up some extra cash I've been doing extra work testing kid's English via asking them a series of inane questions while a Japanese marker scores them and occasionally tries to mouth them the answers (they're not supposed to, but it seems to freak out the kids far more than it actually helps, so whatever). It does somewhat suck giving up my Sunday mornings and afternoons to do that, but Aya's been really busy finishing up her diploma and it's not like I did that much anyways.

It seems that ECC has been expanding in the wake of the collapse of NOVA, opening new schools, which is a good sign, assuming it still keeps its fairly friendly atmosphere. One thing that I've just thought of is something I've read about communities, that in groups of 150 or fewer you can rely on social connections and indirect persuasion to get things done, and I'd wager the number of English teachers working in Kanto fall roughly within that range, I hope that we don't expand to the point where we don't know our bosses any more...
