So, I figured I'd post the prologue of a story I'm working on and then have a mini-rant about what I do and do not like about it. Yes, I write. A lot. It's an obsession.
So! Here it is.

Untitled - Prologue
Addy closed her eyes, tears slipping down her cheeks as she leaned forward to hug one person after the next. She felt a soft hand rub her arm and opened her bright green optics once more, turning to find her mom smiling sadly at her. Addy returned the smile, a sob choking off her words. Another hug came, the last one, and she smiled gently at her teary eyed aunt, watching her leave.
Once she was sure everyone was gone, she walked up to the large wooden box with her mother, the only other person present now, and peered down at the still form inside. There were still laugh lines at the corners of her eyes, wrinkles following them down across the woman’s face. Her hands were clasped together over her rosary, the small crucifix visible as it hung across her frail wrists. A ghost of a smile graced her thin lips, and Addy finally let the sob out, her tears flowing more freely.
“She loved you so much,” Catherine whispered, tugging Addy to her side. The small girl nodded, looking up at her mom before burying her face in her shoulder, crying harder. She felt Catherine’s hand rub small circles in her back, steering her away from her grandmother’s cold body and out the chapel doors. Addy allowed herself to be lead, not paying attention to where they were going or the hands that reached for them, merely keeping her arms around her mother and her face hidden while they left.

So what do you think? I, personally, don't think it's the best thing I've ever writter though it's certainly not the worst. It's really stiff because usually I write in first person, so the whole third person thing is a little new to me, though I wanted to try something different. The whole story is kinda' cliched too, at least the general idea of it is (a war between humans and angels and all, yadda yadda blah blah blah... whatever). Once you get further into it I think it's a whole lot more complex than I just made it sound :) but currently I have major writers block and have decided to pick out everything I did wrong and make it right. *sighs* Woe is me. I hate writers block.
P.S. I totally just realized I wrote epilogue instead of prologue by accident XD
