duh!!!

I am not happy with myself right now.  It seems that I cannot have a birthday in an even year without getting into some type of trouble.

case in point: in 2007, the day after my birthday, i fell into the bathtub.  landed on my elbow, which bore the brunt of the impact, but I still hit my face and got a pretty big knot on my forehead... for the rest of the month i looked like a battered boxer.  my face was one huge bruise.  and the hospital, those jerks never gave me a cat scan...bastards!  I now realize that I could have died from that fall.

so here it is, a couple of years later and guess what!? I spent the early hours of Easter Sunday in the hospital. the same hospital that overlooked me two years ago.  i was in a lot of pain.  shoulder, back, neck and arm.  naturally i was displaying symptoms that said one thing when i was sure it was something else.

so after blood tests and x rays and many questions~they were sue i fell, i was sure i had gastritis~ it was determined that i had a pinched nerve.  so i get three injections, an anti~inflammatory, a muscle relaxer, some morphine for the pain and at my insistence something for gas.

I was diagnosed with systemic lupus in 2000 and the doc wanted to make sure i wasn't having a flare up.  I was more concerned that it was either my kidneys or my heart~ made the mistake of entering the symptoms on web md...it recommended i dial 911~ or worse, the big c! i was so relieved when he said pinched nerve.  WHEW!!!

Ironically, i remembered a few hours later -- after some much needed rest, that i DID have a fall... last september, half asleep, i FELL OUT OF MY BED... duoh! *smacks self* ~ i fell out of my very high bed reaching for something... i was all entangled in my covers and they kinda cushioned the fall, thus alleviating a more violent impact.  however, i totally forgot the incident happened.  but my shoulder didn't, it remembered, in a very painful way.

now i am floating on pain killers and have to go get physical therapy for my shoulder.

the moral of the story is... don't mess around.. seek help immediately.

and yes i am very relieved that it wasn't something more serious.

pinched nerve, fall
