Dun dun dun
Man, that last entry was a trip, wasn't it? Kinda seems different now that I've re-read it a day later.. it's a bit more personal feeling then I'd intended. It was supposed to be seen as a hypothetical thing more than anything else, but eh.. it happens. A look at my darker side, if you will.
One other thing of note: the subject of that whole last entry is also the theme of Star Wars. Anakin's struggle with love and hate, how he loves people for his own sake and fears losing them, etc, is what turns him into Darth Vader. Then his children redeem him. I gotta say, watching this new movie, I've never identified with a character more powerfully than I did with Anakin (in any book or movie for that matter). Crazy that I see myself as similar to one of the most infamous fictional villains of the past hundred years. A bit creepy too. And I don't even get the fun powers.
Ah, well. And to think, I'd always thought of Star Wars as nothing more than a bunch of fun bubblegum movies. Turns out it's a real epic on par with any other, an Illiad or Lord of the Rings for our time. I love epics, they're the ultimate human art form, embodying all that we care and dream about in one titanic struggle retold for the masses. And they're fun. How amazing.
