I'm preparing for my first trip to the mainland in more than a year. Cheri and I will be flying into San Francisco Airport on Thursday and staying at a hotel in South San Francisco for the night. The next day, we will pick up our rental car at a nearby Enterprise and drive directly to SoCal to Los Angeles to meet up with Cheri's best friend, Shawnie. We'll spend the day with her, cruising the city and generally just hanging out. The next day, we'll be heading to Universal Studios for a tour around the great sets of popular television and movies of our day. I'm pretty excited for that. We'll crash at a local hotel for our second night in L.A.. The next morning, the 20th, we depart for lovely Las Vegas in the Nevada desert. America's Playground. The Night Life on High. We'll be there from Sunday night till Thursday morning, where we'll continue our journey back through Los Angeles and back to the Bay Area. The target time is to get back by early morning Friday to enjoy the weekend back in the bay where I grew up. This will be an interesting trip. A trip that will test the strength of my relationship with Cheri, by spending so much time with her and experiencing these new scenes and having these new memories created with her I'll be solidifying another tome of life living with this woman I love.
As for life at the moment, I'm pretty disappointed by a lot of things that have been going on. It mostly has to do with the fact. THE FACT that my brother Kalani is a total tool bag. He really is. After failing to get him and his overweight girlfriend off the couch at my parents house (on the sunniest days Hawaii has seen in a long time, mind you), he told me that he purposefully let me become frustrated at him when denying my requests to get out of the house and do something and continued to act as the antithesis of what I stood for. He said that he saw how upset I was that he [Kalani] was not wanting to do anything but sit around and watch t.v. and play with his phone and his computer and his ipad and continued to act that way despite my strong desires to get out and expose them to this island more.
It's a damn shame when someone you grew up with and you care about would look at your faults and continue to poke at them till they exploded and that person had to remove themselves from the situation because it was becoming destructive to the entire household. Shit, if I saw that one of my family members was struggling or getting frustrated by something, I'd try to help them out. I wouldn't sit there and watch them crumble and get more and more irritated! Kalani, my brother, you have truly shown me a darker side to which I'm very much disappointed. How could you act so blatantly childish and selfish? All I want to do is get out of the house and hang out with you and you treat me this way? Terrible.
So what did I do today with my family? Almost nothing. We went bowling and that was it. Afterwards, they all went to lunch. I went into town with Cheri and Royce. We picked up some items we needed for our trip. I ended up having quite a nice day with my wifey and her best friend.
Why am I being put in such a dastardly position with my family? I refused to go over there to play cards with them tonight because I was thinking I would be ridiculed by Kalani!
Ain't that a bitch. Can't hang out with your own family when they're visiting from over 2,000 miles away because you don't want to be set up to look like a damn fool.
I know, it sucks.
