Ahh!!! Ok, so its Saturday!

Sorry guys, I realize now that it's Saturday! I didn't realize until late last night that Thursday had come and gone and I was, in colloquial terms "a day late and a dollar short". However, to make it up to you I am going to upload some pictures! I would love to do a video blog, but since I broke my point and shoot my video making capacities have been limited to my cellphone, which is currently overloaded with pictures and has no free memory. I saw a commercial today for a fujifilm camera 14mp for 39 euros and I might cave in and get that as a "birthday present" to me. Granted, I LOVE working with my DSLR in a "real world" setting. I've been able to capture some AMAZING pictures in Hamburg and Lübeck that I know wouldn't have been possible with my point and shoot. However I do miss the ability of just carrying my camera anywhere (on a walk, dog run, to the store, etc) to capture the moments that just pop up. I realize that I was still feeling dejected after airbnb.com denied me a photographer position based on the age of my camera, while my camera may be 5 years old- it was expensive when I bought it and I treasure it. Also I have been tinkering around with the settings and getting more comfortable with using the manual settings like iso, f-stop, filters, etc.
So all in all I've been productive with that-- now if I just got around to uploading the pictures from my camera then all the better.

Anyways, Halloween was this week (as you all know I'm sure!)-- we were so busy which I think is part of the reason Thursday just blew past me! Cat decided it would be fun to have from of Clarissa's friends over to go Trick-or-Treating in the neighborhood. Since, the idea of Halloween is still so young here in Germany the whole event going door to door was small, but neighbors were cooperative and most had some candies prepared for the village children. The day before Halloween, Cat and I took over the kitchen to prepare the food- she made a wonderful Pumpkin soup (memo to self: aquire pumpkin soup recipe) and I baked two pumpkin pies! I made my own crust- as I always do and I can proudly say that I have never used a storebought crust (yes I'm kind of elitist when it comes to pie making). It was my first time baking pumpkin pies and I think they turned out pretty well! I made 2 and only 1 was eaten on the day of Halloween by the parents-- pumpkin pie is nonexistent here so guests were skeptical at first, but they seemed to enjoy it. Cat loves pumpkin pie becuase she lived in Tennessee for some time and she was main proprietor of the baking.

(Did you see my 'Martha Stewart-like' dough leaves? Also, I know the pumpkin looks lame, Cat made it! haha)

I love baking, but I'm not so much of a "eating my own sweets" person. I know it sounds weird, but I love baking more than I enjoy eating my creations. That's not to say I don't like sweets- if someone bakes me a pie, I could eat the entire thing. I don't know, I enjoy people eating my cakes/cookies/truffles/fudge (ok scratch those last two, I could eat all of my truffles and fudge haha) because I like seeing their reactions and seeing them happy which is why it makes me sad when there's so much leftovers. It doesn't happen at home, if I bake a pie or something my diabetic dad will eat the entire thing, much to my mom's dismay. But here I've baked 3 things that have had to get thrown out becuase no one eats them past the first day and they go bad. I've had to toss out 2 apple strudel cakes and now the pie is going to have to go soon becuase it's still in the fridge. U.U

Oh also, I know most of you are my facebook friends, so you've seen this, but if you're not-- what is wrong with you? Why haven't you added me? I'm awesome!

Also, here is a "group" picture of Clarissa's friends, myself and my friend Maja!

(We're missing Clarissa's best friend Liana, she was a wtich with a cute "Harry Potter" scar!)

Well, I think that's it for today, sorry about missing Thursday. I really hope to get some pictures edited/resized so I can show you guys! I took Conny out to the town pound and took some great fall pictures with the help of Maja who came over to keep me company while I babysat Conny today since Cat and Christian went to see a comedy show in Hamburg and Clarissa spent the night at Liana's house.

Also, I have some exciting news to share--- next time :D

Night ya'll
