“There’s a bank robbery in progress boss, suit up!” Fields yelled, and the SWAT team all scrambled for their gear and made their way to the van.
There was a crowd formed outside the bank, and Spoony ordered his men to get ready to go in if they had to. The negotiator was still trying, but they needed to be ready to move in a split second.
“Lieutenant!” Came a familiar voice. Spoony looked over to see Linkara, what was he doing there?
“What are you doing here?” Spoony asked, confused.
“Benching you. You’re not going in there,” Linkara said sternly.
“What? Why?” Spoony asked, “You need SWAT,”
“I’m only benching you, not your men,” Linkara said.
“The fuck? Why?” Spoony asked again. Linkara wasn’t making any sense.
Linkara sighed. “Because Insano is in there, and I don’t want you to do anything stupid,”
“Insano is - how do you know?” Spoony asked, feeling numb.
“Because he negotiated to get Solomon out,” Linkara said, pointing over to the ambulance where Spoony saw a familiar mop of bright pink hair.
Spoony felt his heart freeze. Solomon had been in there, and Insano was in there.
“Fine, I’ll stay out here,” Spoony conceded reluctantly. He turned to his men. “But I swear to god if you asses get my cousin killed, they won’t find your bodies,”
His men paled, knowing the threat to be very, very real, and saluted him.
“Sir, we’ll do our best. Insano’s one of ours, you know?” Fields said, and the other three nodded.
“I’m going to be with Sol,” Spoony said, and Linkara followed him over to the ambulance.
“What are you even doing here?” Spoony asked.
“I was nearby when I heard the sirens, so I was watching. When they sent Sol out, he must have recognized me because he yelled for me. I ducked under the barrier and Sol told me what happened. I knew you’d be coming with your team, so I waited with him until you got here,” Linkara said.
Sol looked up, his big eyes even wider with fear. “Spoony!” He yelled, throwing off the blanket they’d given him and running over to Spoony. “Spoony, dad’s in there still with the men with the guns!”
Spoony hugged Sol tight, letting the boy cry into his kevlar. “Yeah. Yeah, I know. But you’re dad’s smarter than anyone, and I’ve got the best guys waiting to go in and save everyone. Things’ll be just fine, just you wait and see,” he muttered.
He just hoped that he wasn’t going to be made into a liar.
Oh you're evil! I wanted to see more! Hahaha, but it was awesome and I love it. angry!Spoony yelling at his men made me giggle too much, hehehe.
Bwahahahaha. >:D Maybe I'll write more eventually, but I kind of like the way it ended there. I mean, obviously Insano's going to be okay. I couldn't have him hurt in a bank robbery on top of everything else I do to him in that verse.
Linkara had excused himself to the bathroom, mostly for the opportunity to do a little snooping. He’d been right in his earlier conclusion: there was only the one bedroom. Linkara would assume that Insano had a bed in the basement lab, but the room was very obviously lived in by two different people. Suddenly the strange way Spoony talked about his brother made sense.
Linkara wasn’t sure why it surprised him. Spoony was a murderer, and Insano an eccentric who didn’t care what society thought of him.
Linkara closed the bedroom door quietly, intent on heading back to the living room to finish asking questions. He turned in that direction only to run into something solid.
Spoony and Insano were standing behind him in the hallway, giving him mirrored amused looks.
“Caught you snooping,” Spoony said, smirking.
“I…I’m just doing my job?” Linkara offered.
Insano giggled, and Spoony snorted.
“So what did the bedroom tell you, detective?” Insano asked.
Linkara hesitated. “That the two of you are together, sexually at the least if not romantically as well, and have been for some time. There’s an ease about the way your things…exist within each other’s space that speaks of a deep connection. It’s almost…sweet, in a way, and the two of you rely on each other,”
Spoony raised an eyebrow. “You got all that from a quick glimpse at our dirty laundry on the floor?”
Linkara smiled slightly. “Not just that. The way you talk about him, and earlier in the living room…that helped make the connection,”
“And just what do you plan on doing about it, detective?” Insano asked.
The twins were staring at Linkara, and it felt like they could see right through him. Linkara swallowed dryly against the effect that the expectant gazes were having on him.
“Nothing,” Linkara managed eventually. “It’s none of my business, and it doesn’t hurt anyone,”
“It could be,” Spoony said.
“What?” Linkara asked.
“Your business. It could be your business, if you want,” Spoony said, giving Linkara an obvious once-over.
Linkara knew exactly why those girls had gone with Spoony. Because he was about to do the exact same thing.
“Hey,” He said gently, not wanting to startle him.
Spoony looked over. “Hey,”
“How’re you feeling?” Linkara asked.
Spoony choked back a laugh that sounded more like a sob. “Honestly? I feel like I’m going crazy. I’m bored out of my skull. I can’t do anything without being afraid I’m going to set off whatever mind-fucking they did and accidentally hurt someone, so I’m doing nothing. All the time! Insano helps with the repairs, and does medicine when you guys need it, but I’m just…here. Taking up all this space and I can’t think…”
Linkara could sympathize. And he suddenly had an idea.
“…How about I teach you how to fly the Comicron?” Linkara asked.
Spoony stilled, looking at Linkara curiously. “You’d…do that? I mean, you’d trust me to…”
“Why not? Come on, it’ll be fun,” Linkara said, motioning for Spoony to follow him to the cockpit.
Insano found them there hours later, smiling and laughing with each other as Linkara watched and explained to Spoony what needed to be done to pilot a space ship properly. Spoony looked more relaxed than he had since Insano had rescued him, so Insano didn’t interrupt and went to check on his medical supplies instead.
It was the first day of Fourth Grade, and Linkara kind of upset because he didn’t know practically anybody in his class. It seemed like everyone from his third grade class were in the other fourth grade classes.
But there was somebody who had caught his attention. It was a boy a few desks over, who was wearing this really awesome Star Wars T-shirt and seemed nice. He introduced himself to everyone as Spoony, when the teacher made everyone say their names and a random fact about themselves, and said that he played video games a lot.
Linkara was pretty sure he’d found a new best friend, even if they hadn’t had a chance to talk. He just knew that they would get along.
When the teacher finally called a break and let everyone go out to the blacktop for snack time - they had to go out to the blacktop so that they didn’t make a mess in the classroom - Linkara walked over to that boy in the Star Wars shirt.
“Hi. I’m Linkara,”
“I’m Spoony,” he said, grinning, and Linkara couldn’t help but smile back.
“I…um…have some peanut butter crackers. Want to share?” Linkara asked.
“Sure. I’ll trade you some of my chips,” Spoony said, and the two of them sat on the blacktop and ate their snacks together.
I love Tiny!Linkara and Tiny!Spoony. I think this is the last one I'm going to do tonight (It's 5 in the morning!) But feel free to leave another prompt and I'll do it tomorrow. (Errr, later today, I mean)
I AM AWAKE AGAIN, PROMTS ARE BACK ON BABY!achika_chanSeptember 17 2011, 19:14:14 UTC
Linkara had never thought that Mechakara would try to use Insano to get to him. Harvey or 90s Kid, sure, or even Spoony, but Insano? That was a stretch.
Unfortunately, that’s exactly what happened. Linkara had gotten an angry and upset phone call from Spoony, saying that Insano had gone missing and that, oh yeah, there was a fucking human heart on his kitchen table. Spoony had been sure it wasn’t Insano’s, and immediately assumed that it was Mechakara behind it, taking the opportunity to taunt his former Black Lantern a little.
Linkara couldn’t fault Spoony’s logic, not when Mechakara was standing in front of him with a very pissed - and gagged - Insano shackled to the wall.
“What’s the meaning of this, Mechakara?” Linkara asked.
Mechakara smirked. “You define yourself as a Hero, the ultimate in Good. But without a Villain to oppose you, where does that leave you? Nowhere. Just a comic book geek with delusions of grandeur. So I’m going to make you watch as I break your favorite toy, and when it’s done you’ll be nothing. You’ll have nothing,”
Insano apparently didn’t take kindly to that, because he jerked in his chains like he was going to try to strangle Mechakara. Mechakara gave the scientist an indulgent pat on the head, like one would a rambunctious puppy.
Oh Linkara, don't you hate when you mechanical doppelganger taunts your BFF with human hearts and kidnaps your love interest nemesis to make you suffer? He's good at being evil, damn.
...And that gives me an idea! Mechakara messing some more with Spoony's mind >:)
Mechakara was evil. There was nothing good within the robot’s mechanical heart or mind. Spoony knew that all too well, and had seen firsthand just how cold Mechakara could be.
Mechakara was trying to kill Spoony’s best friend and had traumatized Spoony’s mad doppelganger.
Spoony knew that.
Mechakara took sick pleasure in taunting Spoony, playing with him and twisting him up until he couldn’t think straight.
Spoony knew that, too.
But with each visit from the robot, Spoony was finding it harder and harder to care.
The letters came the summer after they turned eleven, in neat, inconspicuous envelopes with the proper postage. There were two of them, one for Spoony and one for Wayne.
Spoony wasn’t sure what to think when he opened it. Wayne, of course, scoffed at the very idea.
“Not only is the idea somewhere between illogical and impossible, could you imagine us with that kind of power? It’d be a disaster,”
Wayne’s opinion was changed when one of the professors actually showed up at their house to talk to their parents and turned the coffee mug into a bird and back again.
“How…?” Wayne asked, thoroughly perplexed.
“With magic you idiot,” Spoony hissed, hitting him in the side with his elbow.
“But…he just made a mug into a living thing!” Insano hissed back. “That goes against every law of physics and nature!”
“Maybe you’ll get the answers you seek at Hogwarts,” the professor said to Wayne.
“Fine,” Wayne said, crossing his arms. “I’ll go. Because I need to know how you did that,”
Spoony grinned. Of course Wayne had given in at the prospect of learning something new. This was going to be awesome.
Insano went willingly to his room, too tired and hurt to put up a fight. He fell asleep almost immediately, still healing.
When he tried to leave the room the next night, though, he found the door locked from the outside.
“SPOONY!” He yelled, pounding on the door and making it rattle. “This is not funny, let me out!”
There were footsteps in the hallway, and Insano reached out with his senses, trying to see who it was. He grinned.
“Snob! Snob, you’ll let me out, won’t you?” Insano called.
“Sorry,” Said the amused Voice on the other side of the door. “Orders are that you stay put where you can’t get hurt, and only Spoony’s got the key,”
Insano made an angry, frustrated noise. “Go get him, then!”
Insano sat on the bed, arms crossed, and waited for Spoony to come.
The door unlocked and Spoony entered. Insano glared at him.
“Let me go back home. I have experiments and -“
“Nope,” Spoony said cheerfully.
“What do you mean, ‘Nope’?” Insano asked.
“You’re not leaving. Clearly I can’t let you out of my sight. So you’re going to stay here until I decide you’re not grounded,” Spoony said.
“I - You can’t ground me, I’m no stupid child or rebellious teenager!” Insano protested.
Suddenly Spoony was practically on top of him, pushing Insano back so that he was flat on the bed, pressing his wrists into the mattress.
“Maybe not,” Spoony said, leaning down so close that they were almost nose to nose and staring Insano in the eyes, “but I’m your Sire, and you’ll do as I say,”
“…I’m going to tell Linkara,” Insano said.
Spoony laughed, his breath warm on Insano’s lips. “Good luck trying to convince him that I was the wrong one in this situation. He was nearly as worried as I was,”
Hahahaha! That was both amusing and adorable! I love how Snob is just 'Sorry, no can do' (and I bet he agree with Spoony anyway, lol) and Insano restoring to 'I'm going to tell Linkara', hehehe, they love you sweaty, and so they don't interfere with Spoony grounding you, lol ♥
Can I be greedy too? Denny's Court - Spoony/Linkara/Insano, Linkara comes to visit shortly after Insano's grounding started.
