My day

Jan 31, 2008 21:34

I had a long day.  I had taken the day off because I had scheduled a dentist appointment in the morning and a dermatologist appointment in the afternoon.  They were both in the Cool Springs area so I made a day of it.

My day started at about 8:15 AM.  I woke up, had some breakfast and got dressed.  Of course I flossed and brushed because my dentist appointment was at 9:40 AM.  I got there right at 9:40 (it was further down Seaboard Lane than I originally thought).  I did my paperwork and got x-rays and a teeth-cleaning.  No cavities-- but I need to floss regularly.  The hygienist said that everyone should floss every 24 hours-- like the same time EVERY DAY.

From there I went to Sears to return a dryer part I didn't need.  I wasn't ready to wander the mall so I went to the bank.  After doing important banking business, I stopped by Linens 'N Things and Old Navy.  I didn't buy anything though.  There are quite a few things I've been meaning to shop for at Linens 'N Things or Bed, Bath, & Beyond, but I realized I that I had left my window measurements and shopping list at home.  I did get some ideas for curtains, wall decor and other things.  I will go back soon, hopefully this weekend.

The weather wasn't great today so there weren't a whole lot of people out.  There were the stay-at-home-moms and trophy wives of Franklin.  There were a few high school kids because it was a snow day.  All the high school girls had the snow boots on.  The ones that were really popular when I was in college.  I guess they are back??   There were a few kids running around too.  One girl (probably about 14 years old or so) hit a boy and then ran away giggling and bumped into me.  She kept moving around and bumping into me.  I put my hands out to protect myself and stood still.  She turned and looked at me and said to someone (maybe her victim),  "What is her problem?" and she stuck her tongue out at me.  She was so close I thought she was going to lick me.  What a weird kid!

Back to my day-- at Old Navy, I realized I was a bit hungry.  It was about noon.  I thought about going on over to the mall to eat at the food court, but instead I went over to Cracker Barrel.  I ate alone, and it made me feel like such a grown up.  Plus it was easier to enjoy.  The past couple times I've been to Cracker Barrel, I feel like a fat slob because I actually eat the "country cookin' " instead of just a salad (like many of the other people I go with).  Cracker Barrel salads are good, but I don't go there to get a salad...

Anyway, I went to the mall after lunch.  I got my watched battery replaced at the Fossil store.  I've been meaning to do that for months.  Sometime before Thanksgiving, I remember thinking that I would remember to get that done while I was doing my holiday shopping.  But I did not.  I did it today!  I went into other stores at the mall, but I didn't buy anything.  I felt too fat for clothes-shopping (I should have just ate a stupid salad for lunch).

I still had almost 2 hours to spare when I decided to leave the mall.  I decided to go to Borders because I needed a 2008 calendar.  I also wanted to look at cookbooks to get some ideas for a chocolate item to take to the 4th Annual Chocolapalooza on Valentine's day.  I found a Harry Potter calendar and a book of 500 chocolate recipes.  I still had over an hour before the dermatologist appointment.  I wasn't too far from Sam's and I had been meaning to go, so I did.  I got my stuff and decided to go to the wine/spirit store attached to Sam's.  I picked out a few bottles to put on my new wine rack in my new apartment.  The lady working there was very knowledgeable and friendly.  She actually seemed to remember me from the last time I was there (it was over 2 months ago).  That was cool.

Finally I went on over to the dermatologist office.  Even after a wrong turn (I really should just trust my VZ Navigator), I was about 25 minutes early for my 3:10 appointment.  I was not taken back until 3:10, but that was fine.  I went through the free lotion/sunscreen samples then read a bit of Atonement for my next book club meeting.  I went back and got some advice, prescriptions, and had a mild "procedure" done.  From there I came back to my side of town, got my dry cleaning, and came home.

It felt like quite a busy day.  Coffee really helped today.  Just one more work day this week.  I'm not going to take any more days off for a while because things are about to start getting busier (and I don't have too many more days to take).  I supposed I'll get in bed now.
