9/11 Display Scandal

Sep 09, 2006 18:38

The 9/11 table is up and someone has even borrowed Art Spiegelman's In the Shadow of No Towers, yeah! I've been pimping that book something awful, but all's well that ends well - and the 3rd time really was the charm.

As for the instigator of all this ... she's been cherry-picking books and adding them to my display without asking me first and some of those tomes are down right scary - the kind of stuff that gets two thumbs up from Rush Limbaugh and G. Gordon Liddy. This is definitely not cricket, I'm responsible for the displays and I'm the one that has to answer for what's on the tables. In any case, it's none of her business. I'm all for suggestions, but I reserve the right to make the final decisions - after all, if there's trouble - and there has been controversies in the past - everyone comes to me for an explanation. To add insult to injury - before I discovered her reasons for wanting a 9/11 table, she asked me how I processed the books for a display and (like a dummy) I explained the code changes involved. I have to say one thing, she's a fast learner. My supervisor is furious ... all I can do is stay tuned for the next episode.
