Say it isn't so...
Recently I've heard a few rumors that Marmite might not be available any more. Where? Why? Wait! What? No more toast and Marmite? Be still, my heart.
I've eaten Marmite all my life. Over the years I've written of my love for Marmite, scoffed at the way the unknowing shelf-stockers in grocery stores put it with the flour and baking supplies because of the word 'Yeast' on Marmite's label, and tried a taste test between Marmite and the Australian Vegemite. In my opinion, Marmite took the prize.
A little lasts a long time.
It's pretty well hit and miss whether the stores here in the USA carry it so I went to Amazon to see what was there. They have it but OMG - what have they done to my darling Marmite?
Amazon says 'Marmite Peanut Butter Crunchy is a new take on peanut butter, blended with yeast extract, providing the perfect solution to mix up your morning routine. Whether you love or hate Marmite, you certainly need to give this a try!
No I don't!! I'm not a fan of Peanut butter unless it's surrounded by chocolate or covered in raspberry jam. I don't ever WANT to try Peanut butter and Marmite. What's next? Marshmallows and Marmite? *shudder* A little further down the Amazon page was New Extra Old Marmite.
That's akin to what I'm currently finishing up here - a regular jar of Marmite which made the cross country trip this summer in blazing heat. What's left certainly tastes old and is mega-strong by now!. Yuck!
What's next, I wonder? I'd better hurry up and order some oldschool Marmites.
At this rate I will become a hoarder.
