8 am on a Saturday

Busy week. Lots of tests. But that is over.

I had to wake up at 6:30 today to arrive at Reid Hillview airport at 8:00 for Flight Team practice. Spent the morning learning how to plan a flight for the Nav competition. We are supposed to be able to do it in about 20 minutes (competition gives you 30 minutes). I took me an hour! However, it was my first time doing it for flight team so I know I can slash 20 minutes off of that easily next time.

I also got checked out again for the Flying 20s (flight club I used to belong to). I think I really impressed Mike (instructor and a coach for the flight team. He is also in my Chemistry Seminar!) when we did steep turns. Steep turns are where you bank your wings to 45 degrees and basically turn 360 degrees around while trying to maintain level altitude. This is a little difficult with a Cessna 152 because they are so light. However I performed the turns flawlessly maintianing 3000 feet the whole time! Hell, I impressed myself! After that, Mike didn't even bother to test me on much else and just asked me if there was anything I wanted to work on. We ended up going back to the airport and he showed me the rules for competing in the spot landing competition. I am good at landings but hiting a certain spot I have trouble with. Practice makes perfect!

It's Saturday night and all my room mates have plans. This sucks! I might just go for a walk or go to Barnes and Nobel or something. Anyway, I am out of here!
