I was tagged by veevi, and though I've done versions of this particular meme several times before, I'm taking a short break and I'll do it again now. :)
"RULES: Each player of this game starts off with 10 weird things/habits/little known facts about yourself. People who get tagged need to write a blog of their own 10 weird habits/things/little known facts as well as state this rule clearly. At the end you need to choose 10 people to be tagged and list their names. No tag backs. We only tag because we love."
1) I have this weird habit of buying stuff and then not using it. For example, I bought a Mr. Bento about two months ago and have yet to even open it. I also do this with books - I check them out of the library or buy them outright, and then never read them. And do you want to know how many unopened CDs & DVDs I own? Yeah, I don't get it. It seems enough for me to just OWN the item...
2) I am afraid of big dogs... especially big dogs that jump. This is due to childhood dog-jumping & dog-biting trauma.
3) I can't stand people who are pompous, pedantic, and pretentious. It's probably for the best that I bailed out of academe. :P
4) I do not like and never eat peanut butter.
5) I find it somewhat challenging to follow when people spell out their names and give their numbers over the phone. This was somewhat problematic when I worked various clerical/receptionist jobs and had to take messages. :)
6) This one time at a media convention (think sci-fi convention, but more pop culture oriented), I performed the role of Jadzia Dax in Deep Space Nine: The Musical, based on Disney's Aladdin. And I froze up horribly while singing "Never Had a Trill Like Me!" :)
7) This other time, at an academic conference in Las Vegas, I gave a presentation on Spongebob SquarePants. I discussed the show's popularity and analyzed some of its common themes and archetypes.
8) And I wrote that entire paper the night before, as I pretty much have written most of my papers and presentations since high school. Can we spell P-R-O-C-R-A-S-T-I-N-A-T-E? Yes, but not over the phone, or I won't be able to follow...
9) However, as a child, I wasn't a procrastinator at all. No, I was the annoying kid who did her homework the second she got home. In fact, when I first started school, I told my parents that I wanted to move my weeknight bedtime half an hour back from 9 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., because I was a student now and "needed my sleep." These days, I'm lucky if I get more than 5 hours of sleep on any given weeknight.
10) I am planning to get laser eye surgery by the end of 2007.
