Infected Mushroom
I just came home from seeing Infected Mushroom at a venue called the Vanguard. I found out about it by accident via a mailing list I'm on. Man, am I ever glad I didn't miss this show. It's been a while since I got to see Infected Mushroom - and I'd never seen their "live" show, actually (as opposed to their DJ sets).
When I first got to the club, I was really mopey. It's not that I mind going out alone*, it's just that I had this bad feeling it would be like the last time I went out to a club in LA to hear one of my other favorite trance groups, S.U.N. Project. That was just dismal and depressing, a mostly empty venue with the clientele seemingly comprised exclusively of aging Asian men with hoochie dates.
I continued to be mopey during most of the set from the opening DJ, Serge Devant. I kept thinking how in San Francisco, I would have gone to this show with a bunch of friends (*yes, I evidently do mind going out alone). And here I was, standing all alone, in my awesome new boots. Sniff, sniff, poor me.
Long story short, Infected Mushroom was effing awesome! The club was filled to capacity. I was right up against the stage/catwalk and I touched Duvdev. :P Imagine 1500 people all jumping up and down, screaming, and rocking out and you'll get an idea of what tonight was like. In fact, I have never felt so afraid of being crushed to death at a concert, not even when I accidentally got into the mosh pit at a Metallica show. :P
So, the quick review: The music was AMAZING. Did I mention I touched Duvdev?? :) I got shoved, pushed, elbowed, stepped on a gazillion times... a bunch of people asked me if I was high... a bunch of high people asked me if I was having a good time and someone tried to give me a hand massage... I danced like a monkey and I can't hear anything because my ears are totally blown out. GOOD TIMES! A++++ would definitely go again.
