Addendums and randoms and such

Upon discussion with Eddie-Chris at work, I realized I misheard him the other day--it was not one of the Downhome Decadence people, but rather one of our coworkers who suggested that I be Frank-N-Furter. I still like the idea. Regardless, I'm going to be doing more in that end of things in the coming weeks and months.

I went down to the V-Club--impulsively, as always--for their 80s Night. Now I've been to this before, and the musical selection is, not surprisingly, very kick-ass. But coming early (a little before 11 as opposed to a little before 12) I discovered a bucket of awesomeness as I was ordering my $5 booze-pitcher:

The Godfathers - Birth, School, Work, Death
The Clash - Lost In The Supermarket
The Buzzcocks - Why Can't I Touch It (single edit)
Don Henley - The Boys of Summer
The Replacements - Alex Chilton

ALL IN A ROW. The Godfathers was a particularly good one to have dropped on me--I recall hearing that song once before, but with a Killian's in my system at that point I was struck by how kick-ass of a song it is. As a result, my computer is spending forever and a day downloading their greatest hits compilation.

All Music Guide gives a good summary of the band in their article on the Birth, School, Work, Death album: "The Godfathers missed the British punk revolution by a decade and were a few years too early before loud guitars became fashionable in England again." In abt. 23min I'll have decided if they're my favorite band of the next week or just last night.

In the meantime, inspired by a conversation with Alex Reed, I determined I had enough spare money sitting around to bid on a size-medium Detroit Vipers jersey. Ahh, to go to hockey games where I could actually root for a team... *sigh*
