A few days after the retrieval of City 7, the one-point-five kilometers long Battle 7 is docked with Independence-1. The fleet is supposed to be self sustaining, but since it is within the Earth Sphere, they may as well take advantage of the supplies. Not to mention it gives Maximilian Jenius an excuse to see the GDF allies they have been working

"Yes, we have. Captain Maximilian Jenius, of Macross 7. The Battle 7 is here to resupply while City 7 completes its repairs.

I've also wanted to visit the GDF base ever since we worked together. It's most impressive."

Of course. After all, this place houses so many wildly different units, and their pilots too - including training areas and other facilities. It must be impressive by default, by sheer size and variety if nothing else.

"Adequate fixed defenses as well, I hope?"

"I... don't know, to be honest. The base was attacked a few times in the past, but somehow I was always absent when it happened. It's a little embarassing."

"But it still stands here, so I guess the defenses are good enough. And we also have so many skilled pilots to help repel the attack."

"Ah. Where do you train then? I understand that a typical cockpit simulator would not be appropriate for you."

[cantbeatnanoha]

"Captain Takamachi had a special training area installed, for mage use. It's a special area that you can program to function like various environments. We also sometimes train outdoors, if weather conditions allow it."

"Oh, and we use training drones, too."

That sounds quite fancy, but considering their capabilities...

"Nothing really beats actual 'friendly' combat with your instructors and comrades for training," he nods.

[cantbeatnanoha]

"Well, we usually don't fight as fierce in normal combat. But it's still very hands-on and intensive. I think it's working very well for everyone involved."

[ace_captain]

"That's an excellent operating procedure. Back in the old days we didn't have that luxury. Casualties were catastrophic."

"I... can believe that. It's better that the times have changed then, isn't it?"

[ace_captain]

"It is, at least our battles kept the Zentraedi fleet from finding Earth first, so... despite the casualties, it was worth it."

How did SRW UG handle SDF Macross plot anyway?

[cantbeatnanoha]

"I see... I can't imagine what would have happened if they managed to succeed. The Earth could have been destroyed altogether."

Macross was in deep space throughout, so same things occur, except for Earth-related stuff.

"We did survive though, so the Earth might not have been totally destroyed.

But, a few million ships against a fixed location like a planet would not have ended well."

"So, in other words, it was very lucky for everyone that you managed to persuade the Zentradi to join you, rather than against you."

"Umm, what was the name of the singer who did this? Lynn Minmei?"
