Here's what I won't be getting Rusty for Christmas.

Rusty, I'm not even sure you'll want to click on that link. Roach related.

I have no idea what that link's about. Knowing it has something to do with roaches is enough for now. (That's twice in two days that people are trying to skive me with roach talk. Stop it.)

Eee!!
This was the designer who was on America's Next Top Model last night, and who made the models walk down the runway with these things. Just, ew. I can't believe people actually buy these. What thought process is happening in your brain that makes you go from "what is the idea gift for...?" to "Bejeweled cockroach!" I do not understand.

Holy god. I clicked! A whole world of wtf indeed. You know, I'm familiar with the concept of insect jewelry because, in the early 80s, a family in my town became briefly famous for making and selling tick necklaces. Yes, actual parasites were involved. TACKY, but they were DEAD and laquered over!

I try to curb my shudders about the hissing cockroaches because I know they're specially bred and kept in a clean environment. But... man. I hope the person who bedazzles them gets paid a lot of money.

Still. If I can get over my horror, this is pretty hilarious! Bwah!

Rusty, in junior high (the things I would do in jr. high) I took care of all of the reptiles at school. We had a roach colony to feed some of the smaller roaches. The easiest way to get them out was just to grab them and throw them in the cage. They didn't always stay in your hands.

I really don't know what my thing is with roaches, because in general I'm cool with all kinds of creatures that most people revile. And I like insects! But you say "we had a roach colony" and the half of me that isn't saying "well of course, how practical!" is reaching for a shoe. Heh.

I'm pathetic, because every time I hear about that story I feel bad for the roaches. Do the jewels come off? What about the leashes?

That is just wrong.
