The pursuit of happiness
Oh, the joy of crass consumerism. Below you see pictures of the three pairs of shoes I hope will be waiting for me when I get home tonight.
I spent hours, literally hours, on Zappos.com, trying to find just the right shoes to round out my shoe wardrobe and the shoes below are the end result of that relentless sorting, researching, brooding, searching, pondering, and finally impulsively purchasing.
It all started last summer in June, when we contracted to have all our wood floors (which are all the floors in the house excepting the Arizona room and bathroom) refinished. Every last one of our possessions had to then be packed up and stored in either the basement, the garage, or the Arizona room. All of my shoes, except one or two pairs, went into the basement.
Into the basement, where, unknown to us, there was a slow leak from the bathroom (inside the vanity), down through the bathroom floor, though the floor boards and straight into my box of shoes. All of which grew an amazing coating of mold and mildew. Years worth of shoe shopping ruined in a month! Even the ones fashioned from 100% man-made materials! Who knew furry bread-type mold could grow on foam flip-flops?
Because I don't do anything quickly, and because I spent most of September and October incapacitated with my back injury, it took me quite a while to get finish replacing my shoes. I've tried to find things which fit my size 10 wide feet, which go with my style of dress, which give me various option of casual and dressy, and which I am likely to wear often. Other shoe purchases since June have been made at Nordstrom, Target, and our local New Balance store. The shoes below should be my last shoe three purchases for quite some time, but they were just so cute I wanted to share.
