Last weekend we spent hours at the mall, trying to find a pair of (non-Levis) jeans for Ash. We didn't come home with anything because he has a 33 inch waist but needs a 36 inch inseam. Not a size you can readily find. I was shocked when we were looking in Guess, because I always envied men that their pants are sold with waist and inseam measurements, but Guess has eliminated that! Except for a few pairs, all their jeans have a "standard" 32 inch inseam.

Guess jeans! For medium-sized guys only. (I think I can wear a 32 inch inseam.)

Some stores do sell longer lengths on their website, but often the longer inseams aren't available below a 36 inch waist.

Now Ash wants to know where (tall, skinny) Clinton Kelly gets all his clothes.

I bought a pair of jeans, though! In my never-ending search for a decent pair, I tried on the new Gap Curvy fit.

Says the Gap: "Try this fit if your waist is smaller than your hips."

Well, it certainly explains all my jeans problems if the Gap has always assumed all women's waists were LARGER or the same size as their hips! It seems ridiculous to me that this is a "new" fit. It's like they just admitted that since 1969, their women's jeans have all been built to actually fit skinny men. Sigh.

I was so irked by the description of the jeans that I was almost disappointed when they fit and looked great. They correct a few of the problems I usually have with jeans: (1) on a size that fits my chunky thighs, the waist fits instead of being huge, and (2) the "regular" length is actually long enough! At 5' 7", I find most regulars a little too short, and the talls far too long. Drawbacks: I could only find them in flares, which is okay, but I would like more options, and the dark wash has a permanent crease ironed into the front, all trouser-stylee.
