I picked up new students - an hour each for two sons preparing for upcoming examinations. She's a friend of my mother's who's looking for a supplement for her regular teacher. It made Saturday really exhausting T.T But I have to admit...I like money, and I like teaching.
Their regular teacher was the friend's teacher, and the friend learned piano/flute 35 years ago... so she thinks having a fresh face around her children will help a lot.
"You'll motivate my [teenage] son, you're young and attractive..."
"Uh..."
It's frustrating when people assume that not having a day job = not doing anything all day. If I did have a day job, my piano would unravel pretty damn fast (and our apartment would NEVER be clean).
Today I taught a little, joined a raid hosted by a friend (didn't go so well, but at least I wasn't locked), then Peter took me to IKEA to buy me a new down comforter. My old one is pre-Taiwan...probably ten years old? It's lumpy and the down doesn't go in the right places. Buying a new one involved me sticking my face in various soft things until I picked one I liked. We also bought a bunch of other small things, like extra spoons and knives, because they keep disappearing on us.
Since we were in the area, we stopped by the Lindt outlet nearby and found you could buy a bag of 100 truffles for $30, so we loaded up. WE WILL BE SO FAT.
After that we decided to get dinner. Peter wasn't excited about where we ended up going -
Momiji Sushi, my new favourite restaurant. It's actually average cost for a meal (which means expensive for me), but the service is good, the wifi is free, and the food is quick and absolutely delicious.
In other news, Sarah's going to sell a bunch of earrings I made (waaaay too much time on my hands). I'm writing up descriptions first.
