Why had Cedric treated her that way just hours before? She had been sitting here for what seemed like forever, pondering about that question over and over again. It didn't make sense to her. She was upset; was her relationship with him on the rocks? Or was he just having a bad day? Maybe he never really liked her, maybe he just used her to get Cho jealous.
Fleur shook her head lightly. She didn't think any of those were the reasons. But why they seemed so appealing to her, she didn't know.

"You don't understand."
"No, really, I think I do."
"You've never been in love."
"Are you saying that Draco and I aren't in love?"
"Yes."
"We are too in love!"
"This isn't about you two! It's about Fleur and I!"
Cedric shook his head furiously. Ginny always manuvered her and Draco into their
conversations somehow, and it irked Cedric. They were sitting at the Hufflepuff table in the
Great Hall after lessons, just discussing things.
Ginny bit her lip and looked down, ashamed. "I'm sorry..." Cedric lifted her head up and raised a brow. "Don't apologize, just...I don't really appreciate you bringing Draco into everything, Ginny. It's quite annoying, actually." Ginny sighed. "Okay, I promise I won't do it ever again." "Good," Cedric smiled. "Back to Fleur and I. Well..."

Cedric didn't know how it happened, or why it did, but he knew he was doing it, and it felt good. It felt good to him to have her in his arms. Even though they were fully clothed, they were engaging in a passionate snog session, and he liked it. No, he loved it. And Fleur did too.
And he knew it.
His arms were around her tiny frame, hands resting at the small of her back. Fleur was busy with his hair; oh, how she loved his hair. She loved to just brush her hands through it, comb it
with her fingers, or just plain touch it. At one point she completely forgot about kissing because she was so intent on messing up his hair, and her lips went numb. Cedric noticed and pulled away, wiping his mouth and taking a few deep breaths.
"Fleur?" he asked. She was still hugging him and messing his hair up at the same time. "I like your hair, Zedric," she said softly, breathing heavily.
"I noticed," he said plainly, pressing his lips back to hers and his tongue exploring her mouth gently once again.

"Cedric, this third task is going to be a handful," Harry said. Sure, they had survived dragons and merpeople, but Harry was worried. "I think we should do some preparing for-"
"Great plan, really, Harry, but we don't have the faintest idea as to what the task even is,"
Cedric said, resting into the reclining chair that was in the library. "If we did, then sure, I'd love to help prepare, but we don't, so we just have to hope we can get through it."
Harry nodded as he looked at books, his fingers trailing the spines. "I just wish we had a clue, like the last task, you know?"
Cedric sighed, closing his eyes. "Yeah...that'd be nice."
"I just have this strange feeling that something terrible is going to happen...to Viktor, or Fleur, or even you and me..."
"Harry, I've had the same feeling. I think it's just nerves. Trust me, we'll be fine."
"If you say so."

Fleur and Cedric were sitting together outside by the lake, by that tree, the same tree they had shared many moments before. Cedric was holding Fleur in his arms, her face buried in his chest. Tears streamed down her face and onto Cedric's robes. Fleur was crying hysterically and Cedric didn't know why...yet.
"Fleur...you can tell me...I love you, Fleur, please don't cry," Cedric comforted her for the tenth time, rubbing her back and placing a gentle kiss on top of her head.
Fleur sobbed, gripping Cedric's robes. "She iz dead, Zedric, dead!"
Cedric gulped, and looked down at her. "Who is, Fleur?"
Fleur once again sobbed some more, her eyes puffy and red. "My mum!" She heaved a big sigh and tried to stop the tears, but they kept coming. Cedric's eyes widened.
"I'm so sorry, Fleur," he said, hugging her close. He wanted to know how she died, if someone killed her, or what even happened, but decided not to interfere at the wrong time.

Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.
Dumbledore was tapping an empty glass at dinner.
"Now, I'm sure everyone has enjoyed the tournament so far. But something has happened."
The Great Hall grew silent.
"A death has forced one of our four champions to drop out entirely," Dumbledore spoke firmly, eyeing the students carefully as they whispered about. The Beauxbatons' table was no longer there, Cedric realized.
Dumbledore took a deep breath and sighed. "I'm afraid that Fleur Delacour will no longer be a champion; therefore, no longer in the Triwizard Tournament. The Beauxbatons girls have left suddenly, I am sorry to say that you couldn't say your goodbyes. But if you wish to write to them, you may pay a visit to Professor McGonagall, who has their addresses."
A bunch of "NO!"'s echoed in the hall when Dumbledore mentioned Fleur.
Cedric's heart was beating faster. His true love...gone?! He held his face in his hands, not knowing how this could have happened. Someone had killed her mum to make sure Fleur wasn't in the tournament, to make sure that Fleur and Cedric wouldn't be together. But who?
Cedric thought he knew and looked over to the Ravenclaw table to find Cho grinning mischieviously at Dumbledore.
