some people seem to be seeking “the truth” like it is a religion
OMG, YES!! The crazy is rampant among some of those people. I mean, I *love* to discuss things and I have been known to look a few things up to prove a point. But it's not like my honor is at stake if I'm *gasp* wrong.
There was one site that *banned* me because my user name encouraged shipping and they were a gen site. Um, k.
I think that some people think that calling something canon gives it more meaning,
Yes, YES, YES!!! I can't believe how many people think "canon compliant" is code for "the good stuff". Like AU/AR fics are inherently inferior. I don't understand it at all. And it's such a prevalent idea that fan-fic had to create their own genre (EWE) so they could still use the "quality label" of canon compliant without actually being canon compliant. *facepalms*
But I really do like this re-telling of the Arthurian legend.
I'm having a bit of a Merlin crisis atm. ;D The one thing I don't like about the actual Arthurian legends is how hurtful they are to *everyone*. And the four main characters in the show are just so carefree and lovely. But already they are heading in directions that will cause grief across the board. And that bothers me. Especially in regard to Arthur. Who loses his step-sister Morgana (to the Druids, magic, and Mordred), his future queen Gwen (to Lancelot) and Merlin (to magic and the ultimate betrayal when he discovers Merlin has lied to him). And eventually Camelot falls. I was hoping in this series they would stop before all these things came to pass. But Morgana's storyline is already in progress as are the others. *sniffle* *iz dramatic*
