Summer 2025 Wave of Lego Harry Potter Sets!

Dec 08, 2024 08:14

We have a provisional set list for the summer 2025 wave of lego's Harry Potter theme! w00t!!

According to Bricktap, the summer set list is roughly as follows (I assume the names aren't the final versions, though):

76445 Herbology Class
76448 Dumbledore’s Phoenix
76449 Monster Book of Monsters
76450 Book Nook
76451 Aunt Marge‘s Visit
76452 QQS & "Ice Cream"
76454 Hogwarts Main Tower

At first blush, a lot of repeats, but it's a line aimed also at children, and they grow in and out of theme's age ranges regularly enough that you do have to revisit the classics. Let go of the desire to have them all, go for the ones that make you happy, recognise that a build is mutable, and update the sets you have and still love with new characters, minifigs, pieces and ideas as they emerge. The longer a theme lives, the better the chances we'll get things we've always wanted.

Herbology could follow Potions and Charms in design, although a greenhouse is large enough it could also be added on separately instead of folding into the castle, and a separate building would be appropriate for the castle's footprint. The only stand alone herbology set we've had is the Moment book, and I believe we've only seen two greenhouses over the years, both in castle sets, and oddly enough never in one with Professor Sprout (which makes searching for it more difficult). The two minifig scale ones I can think of are 2020's 75969 the Astronomy Tower set and 2007's 5378 Hogwarts Castle (3rd edition), so I'm sure this will be a welcome addition, especially as lego has come so far with their botanical designs, plus we have a lot of new plant pieces outright.

There's even a chance, depending on how it's designed, that it could be fit into the 2021+ modular castle, as that was one of the areas missing. I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with it, as that will give us clues if any of this is meant to retro-fit that system, or if they've now firmly moved on. I have to admit, I expected the winter wave to have a set that showed they hadn't forgotten the loose ends - a Quidditch Pitch, the greenhouses... so this gives me a little hope. Last year's Owlery, Boathouse, Forbidden Forest and Hagrid's were all useful additions to the 2021+ castle.

As for the rest, Fawkes has been retired for three years now, the Monster Book of Monsters was a limited GWP four years ago, so it makes sense that they'd put in an appearance again sometime. There are other possibilities, though, see below.

Aunt Marge's Visit will apparently be another 4 Privet Drive set, and although it's earlier than expected, as 4 Privet Drive only retired last year, it does fit in with winter 2025's Knight Bus set from PoA, and we've only had two over the years, so it still makes sense. I don't think I have the space for it, but I am looking forward to what I assume will be a buildable figure for Aunt Marge. And of course Ripper. There's a slim chance this is only the missing dining room, which would be grand. In that case I'd probably scoop it up, budget be hanged.

QQS & „Ice Cream“ (I assume Fortescue's) will almost definitely continue our smaller Diagon Alley build. That leaves Scribbulus and Flourish & Blotts from the magnificent D2C set as yet not revisited. And obviously a whole host of other stores I'd love to see. I do think it's likely they continue the line for at least another year or two. Of course I said similar things with Hogsmeade, but there was a change in the theme's lead, so...

The "Main Tower" was expected as the next logical larger castle set adjacent to the Great Hall. The name is a minor quibble, but only because we're Harry Potter nerds. Most people probably aren't aware it's the Grand Staircase. Given we're getting the Tower, there's alway a chance the Dumbledore's Phoenix set isn't another buildable Fawkes, but a Dumbledore's office or something similar that slides into the Tower, as I'm not immediately seeing an option that would.

Along those lines, it's also possible that the MBoM set is this year's Forbidden Forest entry and one of Hagrid's lessons.

The standout curiosity is the Book Nook. This could end up being the library, which would be nice, or it could be something completely different. A foldable Diagon Alley or Hogwarts Express train set for your shelves? You could even do a Quiddich themed one, presumably for much less. I'm never sure how appealing that would be, as I always found it a little boring. As for another foldable room, people still seem to be on mixed footing vis-à-vis the new castle, so a library might be enticing as a location we're missing.

I'll keep as we get piece counts and prices. That should help narrow things down.

lego sets, summer wave, 2025, leaks, spoilers, coming soon
