12 Grimmauld Place Advent Calendar Day 07
What If...
What if the 2022 Lego Harry Potter Advent Calendar focused on the Order of the Phoenix's Christmas at 12 Grimmauld Place in 1995? With the release of the lovely Grimmauld Place set this year and an abundance of canonical Christmas material, it seems such a shame that it didn't, so with the magic of Mecabricks, let's just pretend it did... Hey Presto!
The calendar starts here with Day 01.
Day 07 of the 12 Grimmauld Place Advent Calendar
Day seven, some of the Black Family china makes an appearance with their cupboard that fits on top of yesterday's build. One of the stubborn spiders that have taken up residence in the house and seem frustratingly resistant to banishment has snuck along for a ride.
There's a sound outside the kitchen and Fred's ears perk up.
"Bugger, I think it's Mum," he offers by only way of explanation as he sends the Puking Pastille from under the Daily Prophet winging to join the other in the cupboard. Harry understands the oblique warning immediately and rushes to Banish the newspaper to the counter and slip into a seat. Molly runs a tight ship and he's not eager to rock the boat, especially not now with Arthur in hospital. The Weasley matriarch's nerves are even more frayed than usual.
Today we'd have a new print representing the Black family crest. It doesn't have such a dominant role in the films, but in the books it's mentioned often as decorating many objects in the household. The skull with flourish appears at the top of the crest. As it's probably more useful as a whole than the symbol of a hand holding a wand or three crows, I've chosen that as the most likely selection to represent the Black's obsession with personalising absolutely everything. If this were a set and not an advent calendar and we were using stickers instead of prints, I think I'd like to see four different motifs, the embellished skull, the hand with the wand, a crow, and one sticker that combines all three. It would also be nice if this set included four "plates", even if not four different designs, so we could retrofit two to the cupboard included in the 76408 12 Grimmauld Place set, but I expect we'd be fortunate if the AC contained the two shown here.

I always like to guess what the pieces in the Advent Calendars will build before peeking at the pictures, but here you see them assembled. To compensate for that, I've decided the best approach would be to include a picture of the next day's parts so you can play along at home:
