Time loses its momentum in that one split-second. The world grinds to a halt, the solar system ceases orbit, and all is still except for the crackling air between two individuals caught in a gaze. There is a moment of shared revelation of what could be, a moment of shared understanding that the crackling air is not simply static or the heat of the room, but something else wildly exciting, yet dangerously sinister. And in that split second of stillness may lie the foolish decision to make that wild excitement and element of danger tangible, to place each other on pedestals high enough to touch the stars, high enough to fall back down, or the equally foolish decision to let that moment slip by into that black void of irretrievable memories, and to carry on with seperate lives dreaming of aching could have and might have beens.

A choice they say, but what choices have you got? It's only a frenzied game of Russian roulette, and sometimes, you just don't get so lucky.
