Peeling yellow paint..? Sirius in an antique/book store, Remus as his assistant
I know I'm going to smack myself when I find the answer to this but I'm hoping someone can help me.
I remember reading an AU where Remus and Sirius are both alive, set after the books. They had some sort of relationship in the past but then Sirius disappeared in the veil and they all thought he was dead-- he showed up suddenly later but in the meantime Tonks/Remus had happened and Remus felt obligated to stay. Later they divorced. It was all over the news for some reason.
Remus ends up alone and looking for work but it's extremely difficult because everyone knows he's a werewolf. There's a street he knows from the past with a house he always loved. He sees that the house has been converted into an antique shop or bookstore or something that, and it has a sign for a part time worker wanted. He goes in to answer the ad and finds out it's Sirius who owns the shop, which freaks him out so he leaves. But later he realizes he can't afford to give up this chance so he goes back in, asking Sirius for a job.
The story is basically about them/their past/their future. Also, I recall Remus being a little jealous of Sirius' past boyfriends, and Sirius lives above the shop.
For some reason I had it in my mind it was called something like 'the house with the peeling yellow paint' but I'm obviously wrong on that front because I'm not seeing it (or I suck at searching). Also, I think it was in a past fest like RS Games or a bigbang.
I may be mixing two or more stories together in my mind with this description, by the way...
