Does a fic exist about the way the series would/should have been written?
I'm not sure if the lj-cut is really necessary since I'm sure most people have read through the end of the series long ago, but I'm lj-cutting it just in case.
BACKGROUND:
Between articles I've read recently and interviews I remember reading years ago, if my memory serves me correctly Sirius wasn't going to die in Order of the Phoenix. Arthur was, but JKR couldn't bring herself to do it because she was too attached to him. I also recall her saying that she wrote Tonks/Remus basically as a joke-- that she almost fell out of her chair laughing at the idea of them when she saw someone shipping them on a forum before it was ever in any plot line, and she threw it in book 6 because she needed a Red Herring. Then, in an article I read more recently but was also written a few years ago, JKR says Tonks and Remus were supposed to live in DH but she killed them so she could have an orphan left behind in Teddy, and also to finish the systematic killing of all of Harry's father figures. She wanted to kill parents and she says right in that article that she does it to compensate for not killing Arthur.
QUESTION:
So here's my question-- does anyone know if any fics were written that's basically canon through most of Order of the Phoenix, but in which Arthur dies, and Sirius, Remus and Tonks don't? Also where Remus and Tonks never get together in the first place?
Basically, the way I understand the story was supposed to/probably would have been written before she changed everything so she could keep Arthur alive, and before she randomly threw Tonks/Remus in as a joke. (Honestly, Arthur wouldn't have to die if the story was still written where Sirius never died and Tonks/Remus never happened). I would love to read a story that's as canon as can be, about Remus and Sirius coming to grips with all the troubles they've had in life, and learning to rely on each other/getting together if they weren't already together in the past. (Whether or not it's set in OOTP, HBP, DH, or beyond, doesn't matter to me)
Obviously I'm hoping to find an R/S fic... but if no one knows of an R/S one but happens to know of one without relationships that was written along similar lines as above, I'd be interested in reading that too. (I just don't want to read about Remus/Tonks because that pairing pisses me off so much. Tonks was my favorite female character and Remus my favorite male, and I felt like the whole thing ruined both characters/made them ooc for no reason.)
I'm not sure if a fic like this was ever written but I wanted to ask in case anyone has seen one.
I wasn't sure what tags to give this one so if I'm missing some/used a wrong one or I somehow missed a rule that makes this post unacceptable for the community, please let me know.
