I read a fic once that I can't seem to locate again, and it was something along the following lines:
Sirius sees Remus' scars and assumes they were inflicted by his mother, because Sirius has similar marks inflicted by his own mother.
It sounds horrible, but they sort of bond over it and it was heartbreaking and sweet.
Help in finding this again is much appreciated.
