Hello LJ Peoples!
At church this morning, something popped into my head and so I decided to post about it. I know what you're thinking..."A post that's not a TPN Post??" Yes, that is indeed what this is. Once you've come out of shock you can read what it's about.
Anyway, so this is what I was thinking. What is Father's Day for? Celebrating your dad. Honor him, give him nice cards and bed in breakfast. On this one day out of the year, sons and daughters across the country suddenly treat their dad with special love and care for this one special day. Is this day important? Yes. It's good to bring your thoughts back and realize what your dad has done for you and how much he loves you.
But wait....
He's not the only father you have. Yes, he is your earthly, biological father and he probably raised you. This post is not to diminish the time you spend making your dad feel special on the third Sunday of June. Every child needs its daddy. And that can go two ways.
We have another Father: Our Heavenly Father. He loves you more than any father on earth has ever loved any child...put together. Why not use this day to celebrate Him, too? Father's Day is a day to focus on your dad and show him extra respect and love. Shouldn't we do that for our Heavenly Father every day?
This life is not our own. God is truly the one who made you. He knit you together with the utmost care. He's watched over you every day of your life and loved you with an unconditional, eternal love. He gave you this life that you live every moment. Your life is His. He deserves your full attention, your full respect and honor, all your love, all your mind, all your strength...everything you are. He deserves more than you can give. So why not give Him everything you can? He gave His Son for you. He gave it all. What are you going to give back?
Nearly every little boy spends many years of his youth looking up to his dad, wanting to do everything just like him and grow up to be "just like daddy". Try looking at God like a little boy looks at his daddy. Don't you want to be just like Him? Christian means "little Christ". We should be striving every day to be like Him. Looking up to Him for strength. For advice. For guidance. For strength. For peace. For everything.
Every day should be Father's Day. Life your Father's life.
Are you living your days celebrating His love for you?
