SGA 5x19 (Vegas) thoughts (spoilers)

That episode was just freaking awesome. I must confess that I am also a big fan of CSI, so I just loved watching what basically amounted to an homage of it for the first twenty minutes or so. Seriously, the set-up, the shots, the lighting, they all smacked of CSI (and I shudder to think of the amount of royalties that TPTB had to pay to Jerry Bruckheimer, CBS, etc.). Fortunately, Joe Flanigan was there looking something beyond hot to keep me from being confused. He is a pretty pretty man. He also just had some great lines throughout, which helped the episode stay pretty fun.

Everyone else was pretty cool too. I love the make-up routine they showed the wraith going through so that he could go out. The irony of watching an actor made up to look like an alien then putting on more make up to look human again is pretty priceless. Rodney was just himself. He was a little mean at the start, but I didn't get the sense that he enjoyed sharing the litany of all he knew about John. It wasn't nice, clearly, but I think it lacked bite. Todd was naturally made of win, and even more cryptic than normal (what with the starvation, poor guy). Also, I found Zelenka without glasses somehow more endearing than with glasses, though I'm not entirely sure why. Clearly he and Rodney "get along" in this reality like they do in the one we know.

I really, really liked this episode. Until the last 30 seconds. Seriously, would it have killed them to have medics show up at the last moment? TPTB continue to kill off characters gratuitously and leave bodies scattered everywhere. I don't know if they just have a massive god complex or what, but it makes me kind of nervous about the possible body-count for the finale.
