Persistence was certainly one of Chris's virtues but it wasn't quite working out for him right now, apparently. He had no intention of giving up or anything of the sort but he hadn't quite realised how large the district was. Tracking someone down here who didn't want to be found could take a while... but Jill did want to be found, didn't she? He had to believe that. He didn't know the full situation yet, didn't know whether Wesker had a hand in all this. Didn't matter either way.
The difficulty came from not knowing where to look. Empty and quiet the place might be but Chris knew that Jill was far more skilled at evading notice than he was. She could be holed up in some building for all he knew. So far though, there'd been no sign of anyone else, and he was starting to grow irritated. Could this just be some sort of ruse dreamt up by Wesker? He had no way of knowing. Even if that were the case, it just Chris yet another reason to hate the man all the more.
He wasn't sure what it was that brought him to a trudging standstill - he certainly hadn't heard anything, but years of danger had honed that sixth sense which let him know he was being watched. It could just be paranoia, but...
"Jill?" he said, his voice soft, somehow not wanting to shatter the silence too violently. He just had to hope she'd reveal herself to him.

She had begun to turn around, planning to make her way back to to the hotel and alert Wesker that their target had been drawn into the cross-hairs. That programmed reaction was stopped by the quiet call of her name. She stopped, standing stalk still in that alleyway.
How long had it been since she was able to truly war with herself for control? How long since she felt she might actually win a shred of it back? All she needed was a moment, just one small moment to respond.
The silence that followed his call was deafening, baring down on her in that small alley. It felt like an eternity, her thoughts running rapidly through her mind, her adrenaline spiking as her heart hammered in her chest. She fought, hands gripping at her head as a pained cry escaped her, cutting the silence as she sank to her knees.
