CAPPADOCIA aka "LAND OF BEAUTIFUL HORSES"

THE NAME CAPPADOCIA GOES BACK MANY YEARS TO THE ROMAN GOVERNMENT OF THE
PROVINCE WHICH BEGAN IN A.D. 17. CAPPADOCIA HAD BEEN HOME TO MANY AND
VARIOUS CIVILISATIONS THROUGHT THE AGES STARTING FROM THE THE ASSYRIAN
TRADING COLONIES UNTIL THE PRESENT DAY. CAPPADOCIA IS ALSO IMPORTANT FROM
THE POINT OF RELIGION AND WORSHIP. THE MOTHER GODDESS CULT, WHICH SYMBOLISED
FERTILITY AND IMMORTALITY STARTED AND SPINKLED OUT AND DISSAPEARED IN
CAPPADOCIA IN THE SECOND HALF OF THE FIRST CENTURY A.D. CHRISTIANITY WAS
INTRODUCED TO CAPPADOCIA AS MANY OF THE APOSTLES TRAVELLED TO THIS REGION,
INCLUDING SAINT PAUL WHO WAS BORN IN TARSUS. CHRISTIANITY THRIVED IN
CAPPADOCIA DESPITE THE OPPOSITION FROM THE ROMANS.

(This paragraph was taken from the Burcu Kaya Hotel pamphlet, not a great hotel to stay at but the information it has on Cappadocia is pretty interesting)

(eheheh yours truly escaping the hot sun under the beautiful olive
trees)

These are pictures from a bar called Turkish Nights, a place with unlimited
drinks and fruits for people who travel from miles around to obsverve
Turkish folk dance (they also have a kick ass live band!)

A picture of Pigeon Valley, just cuz it looks like something from The Lord
of the Rings

This is Cappadocia and all it's natural wonders

For all you kids raised in the Catholic ways, can you spot the natural rock
formation that is claimed to be the Virgin Mary ? ?

What better way to end my blog entry than with a picture of me and a Turkish
guy???
