WHOA!!!!

I don't know what people in Hollywood have been smokin lately - but they sure are coming out with a LOT of good movies. Well - that's my opinion anyways basically because a lot of new movies that are coming out are being based on novels, like Memiors of a Geisha, Pride and Prejudice, the Chronicles of Narnia; the lion the witch and the wardrobe, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of FIre. I saw those trailers about two months ago and as soon as I did I ran out to the local Barnes and Noble and snatched them up (except for Harry Potter because I've already read all those books ^_^). And after reading those books I became determined to see the movies.

Yesterday I saw the movie Pride & Prejudice, and it totally smashed my prejudices against most novels made into movies. Everytime Hollywood makes a movie based off a book, they always manage to screw it up (anyone who had a favorite novel ruined by hollywood would know what I'm feeling). I understand that books are really long and there are some parts that have to be cut out, but the directors always cut out THE BEST PARTS of the story!!!! And when they do that they have to alter the plot and f'''up the WHOLE movie. BUT not with Pride & Prejudice!!! I have to admit - that book was REALLY long - but the directors managed to keep every important event/scene in, not to mention that they casted each character perfectly. The flow of the story was really good too - it wasn't rushed like HP was, which was amazing because A LOT of things happened that they didn't cut out and they still had time to add in some extra scenes too. After watching the movie I felt more than satisfied. The directors were able to completely capture the essence of the story, each character, and the author and put into a beautiful movie. This movie has given me HOPE for all future novel movies. Now I just can't wait to see Memoirs of a Geisha & Narnia.

Another movie I saw recently was Aeon Flux - and that movie turned out to be pretty good too. The first 30 minutes of the movie it looked like a typical cheesey science fiction movie (I mean like Doom movie kinda bad, which I hope none of you out there has seen, because it SUCKED). As the story unfolded it got a LOT more interesting. It puts the topic of 'cloning' into a new light.
