UBER FINALS HERE WE COME!

Oh our Thomas boys, please beat Korea and go to the finals too

Unfortunately, I think I’m going down with a cold. Looks like I have to spend the weekend resting at home, although Elda has been nagging me to go and watch the finals in Senayan.
Umm… there are some books that I have finished reading, and am currently reading Un Lun Dun and The Penderwicks. Also Hidaka Shoko’s Signal *smiles*

Sometime ago, an international conference on peace journalism was held in Bali. Oddly enough, Israeli journalists weren’t granted visa; hey, if you want to talk about peace, why don’t you give a chance for people who want peace to take part in the discussion?

But yesterday’s KOMPAS had a picture of one of the greatest Indonesian Muslim intellectuals, Amien Rais, talking with two rabbis, Rabbi Cohen and Rabbi Weisz. Where was this dialogue held? Surprisingly, in Universitas Indonesia. Two days ago, a conference on the conflict between Palestine and Israel was held in UI (it’s called something like Remembering 60 Years of Genocide). These two rabbis represented the Jews who are against Zionism. They believe that the Israeli government and military have taken the wrong steps in trying to create freedom and peace in the Middle East.

I was so glad that representatives of religions can sit together, here, in Indonesia, in an event held by academicians, by intellectuals, by peopleto talk about how to bring peace to the Middle East (The King of Saudi Arabia previously has also expressed his willingness to invite representatives of Jews to his country to have a discussion with Christians and Muslims on how to build peace among the three Abrahamic faiths).

And the conference declared (like I have so many times stated): The conflict is NOT about religion. It’s about two countries/nations fighting for their being . Everyone, of every religion, must work hand in hand to end this conflict.

And well, this Israeli newspaper - I forgot the name - concerned worries about foreign parties interfering with Israeli’s internal affairs for their own interest. These people - called American Zionists by the Israeli newspaper - seemingly try to strike deals with Israel: Hey, we’ll help lobbying the US government and congress so they’ll issue policies that support Israel, but please back us up on matters like anti-abortion issues &c.

Oh, the far-right. *sighs*

The Israeli newspaper was on the opinion that this intervention must stop, because it only worsens the conditions in the Middle East.

Myanmar and China, my heart goes out for you. Be strong in this time of catastrophe.
