Some random thoughts. On music, comic and manga.
Anybody else ever tried to fit a Hitler’s moustache under Kelly Jones’ nose? I have, and it goes very well.
The Paddingtons wake a primal drive in me to kidnap cute younger boys. I wonder why, hmmmm….
With all members of 853 Stage Diving Kamikaze (er, I’m likely to have their name wrongly) ready to leap at my throat, I wisely chose not to say anything bad about The Others. But can I say that were I a director, I would really really want to remake their video for For the Poor? It could have been a great video. But it isn’t. It’s so lo-fi it hurts.
And surprisingly, I like A.F.I.’s Miss Murder. I bet they’re big in Japan, what with their heavy make up and all. I prefer to have my dose of My Chemical Romance, though.
Phantom Planet: Kids! Gather here! It’s BL101! So here before your eyes are five archetypes of BL characters… etc.
In The Rakes’s words, my life is currently Work work work pub club sleep. Sheeeesh. I was planning to go to Bandung on the fourth of July, but my sister asked me not to because she’s going to have her pre-defense on the fifth. She doesn’t want to be alone at home. Oh well. There goes a holiday.
Should I buy Ghosthunt novels? Or perhaps anyone can persuade Elex to publish them? Please?
Now that I’ve decided to collect Wolf’s Rain tankoubons, I really want to write this to Tsume:
Dear Tsume,
I like your character. But I heavily dislike your look. Your clothes are awful. Thank you.
Meanwhile, tyrant_mouth and I still argues whether Kiba is really a cool character (my opinion) or only a character that tries too hard to look so (her opinion). And I don’t think that their Japanese names imply that the characters look Japanese or something. They’re ‘just’ wolves who assume human shape and adopt wolf-related nouns to name themselves. So I think it’s alright if in the English version their names were altered into ‘Fang’, ‘Claw’, or something like that. But of course we face a problem in Indonesian: ‘Taring’, ‘Cakar’… errrr. Let’s stay with the original names in Japanese. Kiba’s a mightily fine name. I feel as if my son has grown up. (<--She’s talking about another Kiba, apparently!)
