[Accidental Voice]

..These things really are everywhere. Even on the streetlights!

Someone must've worked over time to get this done...

[The crowds are heaving in the square today, but Chase prefers to walk through the middle, open spaces equalling less chance of mistletoe. So it's a shame he's feeling secure enough to have buried his head in a patient file, not noticing Vicki as he drops onto the other side of her bench, and definitely not noticing the decorated streetlight above.]

[A little stunned from the impromptu make-out session she had with Harry earlier, Vicki is sitting on the very end of the bench. The mistletoe is still on the streetlight and she has been keeping out of its range for a bit now. She looks up just as Chase walks up and sits down on the bench with file in hand.]

Do you always do your work out in the open like that?

[He takes a moment to register that the question is directed at him and not just a fragment of someone else's conversation. When he looks up, though, there's that moment of slightly embarrassed recognition he always gets when he sees Vicki, and he snaps the file shut to answer.]

Only when I'm stuck on something.

[She turns to face him better]

Ah..tough case?

Complex diagnosis. We're not really supposed to talk about it.

[Unlike policewomen, or detectives, or whatever she said she was. Once Chase had established that she wasn't who he'd thought it became less interesting. It seems like that might be changing, now, because as she moves he mirrors her, reaching out helplessly to draw her into a kiss.]

[Barely registering the last thing he said, she's being pulled in to him and directly into mistletoe range. She had tried hard to avoid it, but under the spell of that evil plant there's not even a hint of hesitation as she kisses him back.]

[Apparently it's more than her outward appearance that feels familiar to him as he presses the kiss closer, lips parting just slightly he cups her cheek in his hand, asking silent permission.]

[Falling deeper into the kiss, she's not resisting as she parts her lips. She's certain she hasn't kissed him before but it sure feels like she has.]

[Maybe it's just because he seems to know instinctively how to move with her. He's closed the gap between them, now, though the only point of contact is still their mouths and that one hand. As the kiss deepends he lets her lead, pulling back only when she does, dark-eyed and half out of breath.

And just realising what he's done.]

I'm... I'm sorry.

[Blinking at him, it takes her a moment to realize what just happened as well. Then she's mentally cursing the small plant that started this all.]

It's okay...wasn't your fault.

I'm still...

[Any word that might have gone here is replaced by some apologetic gesturing, Chase staring at the ground and, for the first time today, blushing.]

[Flustered and quite embarrassed herself, she's not quite sure what to say.]

It's..really..I should've warned you that it was there.

That might have helped.

[He agrees, glancing up at her and then beyond, to where the offending plant is trying to look innocent.]

You knew?

[She gives him a faint smile.]

It caught me earlier as well... I was hoping I could avoid it by staying out of its range..

Which as you know..didn't work too well.
