As many people know, I absolutely hate Good Charlotte. Some would say this hate is irrational. I however do not care, but I realized today how much hating their music and vibe makes me a bitch to the point where I can't even smile at them.
At work last night I'm standing backstage on the loading dock waiting for Good Charlotte's set to finish up so I can sign in and let the boss know I'm there. Okay so band finishes and I don't notice them come offstage but a few minutes later I look over to my right and about 20 yards from me is Joel Madden and my first reaction is to, out loud mind you, "PSH" and look over awkwardly. My sister looks over and asks me what that was for and I told her I saw Good Charlotte and I didn't intend on actually making that noise. We proceed to laugh about it.
Okay so the next moment was during the next set. The Black Eyed Peas are performing and Billy Martin wants to watch from onstage so he comes up with some other guy, his bitch pretty much, and the guy tries his hardest to get Billy onstage again. Security denies him. The bitch gets mad and tries the other backstage entrance. Security denies him. Meanwhile Billy Martin looks over at me behind his glam sunglasses and I'm just laughing because I don't know, I'm cruel and dumb and found it funny that even he was denied access. He stood there a few minutes listening before giving up and going back to his trailer, or wherever.
Alright so I see my boss then and he tells me to just hang around until the end of the BEP set, which is when I'll get started. Okay no problem. So I go hang out by the radio station booth and the trailers to be out of the way of backstage and the loading dock. Lo and behold Good Charlotte in full plus this girl with "rock star poodle hair" come around the corner. I think I must have been watching them with a weird look or whatever because all of a sudden I make eye contact with Joel Madden and he smiles and waves at me. I'm the only one over there, except my sister who isn't looking at them, and I'm like ...wtf he's waving at me. So I give him this awkward smile and half wave back like ".....?" and then Billy Martin sees me and gives me a little smile too. They pass and my sister's like "Who just waved at you?" Me, still confused "Uh, Joel Madden. That was Good Charlotte." And of course she finds it hilarious because I don't like them, at all. In fact I hate them, irrationally of course.
Ah anyway fun times. I'm thoroughly amused and will probably snicker about it to myself over the next couple days.
