These textures are good for light effects and are best used in :Screen, Overlay, Softlight, Lighten, Color dodge modes. ♥

If the texture has a dark background, it is best if you use the layer modes I listed earlier in the post, if the texture is light (there are very few of those) use a "dark" layer mode like Color Burn excetera. These are easy textures to use and just as easy to make. Tutorial on how to make them is coming soon.
