Reading Grimm's Fairy Tales and stumbling across
The Giant and the Tailor reminded me of another book my class was read in grade 3: the
Tailypo. I decided to see if I could find the book (linked above), and to my surprise,
Tailypo is an old and well-known story!
When I was 8, I decided to stay up as late as I could one night. Naturally I was not allowed up late on a school night, so I decided to see how long I could just lie awake in bed. To keep myself awake I turned over the Taily-po story in my mind. It worked until about 2am.
When I was 9 or 10, I read a book (aimed at children, of course) about hauntings. One particular story creeped the hell out of me. It was about a woman in Ireland who kept seeing a black cat as big as a dog prowling her house. For a long time after that I imagined such a cat pacing the corridor outside of my room.
In other news, Regina Spektor's last album is starting to grow on me. At this rate I'll start listening to Tori Amos too.
I have nothing else really happy to report, so I'll quit writing before I start to whine.
