Oh yes, and don't leave food out. Do you like roaches? No? They show up EVERYWHERE. I don't care if you're in Alaska and on the 17th floor. They're sneaky bastards. Throw. food. out. when. you're. done. This goes for dishes as well, in and out of the sink.
2. Always assume your roommate will be an ass. It doesn't matter how nice this person is -- he or she will most likely do something dumbassed. This is America, where too many spoiled kiddies grow up with nannies still wiping them for them, and spoon-feeding them. This may be an exaggeration, but I've known so many kids without a lick of common sense.
Examples (from a few different girls):
-Locking me out of the room while I was in the shower before a trip to the Senate, so I had to run across campus in a towel and hold the entire trip up.
-Playing Donna Summer songs at two AM, loudly.
-Leaving food and empty bottles all over (yay roaches).
-Doing coke in order to be skinny. Living with someone addicted = fun!
-Stealing my makeup and therefore giving me a nasty eye infection from my unknowingly shared mascara.
-Throwing out a pair of shoes I loved because they were "old". Mind you, they were new, beloved, and she was just a Gucci bitch.
-Telling me I was fat because I'm poor. Mind you, I'm only 120 lbs, and middle-class. This girl was bones and disgustingly rich.
You know what? If you see yourself placed with a Paris Hilton type, just RUN.
