I'v fallen for a new fandom: Friday Night Lights. Any show that makes me bawl my eyes out with their first episode owns my heart. Don't get me wrong, I still love Stargate Atlantis, but I cannot watch it with my brain engaged, ever. If I tried, I would explode with incoherant rage (Critical Mass, I am still bitter about you!!!). Stargate Atlantis is shiny, but Friday Night Lights is good.
The show I was actually planning on watching while I was at
mystisblom's was Supernatural because I had been watching vids (best way to pimp fandoms ever) and finally decided to give SPN another chance. Damn, Jensen Ackles is pretty. (RPS recs anyone?) Anyway. I tried, I really tried, but I fell asleep in the middle of various episodes. Again. SPN and I just don't click. But vids are still shiny, so recs:
Bricks, Shuffle Your Feet and, my favourite, Two Step by
sockkpuppett. All three vids can be found at
Luminosity's Vidworks.
What made me finally decide to try out FNL was a rant posted some time ago about episodes 1x15, "Blinders", and 1x16, "Black Eyes & Broken Hearts":
Broken Heart, indeed by
hecatehatesthat. I found the points raised about the treatment of rascism in the show incredibly interesting. I have yet to watch the episodes - no skipping forward for me, oh no - so I'll withold my opinion until then.
This evening I watched
Shut up & Sing, the documentary about the Dixie Chicks and the fallout after their anti-Bush comments. Since then I have Not Ready To Make Nice on repeat. Here, listen to it too:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/8t60d2It's funny, I knew about the band since 2000 or 2001, I own their last two albums, but I had no idea about the whole debacle.
And, finally, some SGA.
lim posted a new vid:
My Brilliant Idea [John/Rodney]. In my opinion, lim is one of the most creative vidders out there at the moment. I am incredibly in awe. Watch her stuff, seriously. The vid Us is a piece of genius, a meta vid about fandom, about us.
