The first funny thing is that i'm actually using this.
The second is TEC. Teens Encounter Christ. This past weekend (labor day) a load of youth went to it. I went like 2 years ago to the 30th session, this one was the 33rd.
It basically goes like this.
You get convinced to go because you're thinking it'll be a cool fun retreat thing. You get there, you get isolated from the world. No cellphones, clocks, radios, anything. They then trick you into thinking you are having a spiritual experience by having previous attendees (some of the people from my church did that too) give witness acounts, mixed in with bible readings in dark rooms. You leave and you feel all yippee Christ and "changed", then after a week your back to acting the way you did before.
Just like Sunday church.
All the youth that went, even the table leaders that have already attended once and were just working at it, have all started up with the TEC greatings and goodbyes like GLYSADI (god loves you and so do I) but they will stop soon. I know because I did and so did everyone else that went. Even some of the table leaders stopped until they went again.
If you're gonna claim to be all into Christianity, you shouldn't need a retreat to get closer. Spiritual encounters shouldn't be manufactured, they should just happen.
The christian church really bothers me nowadays.
